FMI to launch “Private Brand Management: A Shopper-Centric Approach” developed by Wisner Marketing.

Perhaps no other area of the business is as strategically important to retailers as achieving success with their private brands. This transformational approach to private brand management is the first comprehensive process for maximizing profitability and shopper loyalty with private brands. Fully integrated with Shopper-centric Retailing concepts developed Winston Weber Associates and Deloitte for FMI, it enables retailers to evolve far beyond what can be achieved with the aging category management concepts that have been central to the industry for the past 30 years. The report will be available in the FMI Library beginning September 8. This project will be supported by webinars and a broad range of training options.

Covid 19 Roundtable at PLMA Washington Conference

This year’s PLMA Washington Conference, one of the most unique industry events will be held October 6-7 as a virtual event. In addition to a great lineup of political and regulatory speakers, PLMA will be holding attendee roundtables both afternoons. MBC Launches Canadian Diversity Manufacturer Share Group

Jim Wisner manages several of the Manufacturer Groups that are part of the MBC-Consulting Share Group Network. The latest group, focused on Canadian Women and Minority owned companies had their initial session on March 30th with a follow up meeting scheduled for May 19-20. This group was formed in collaboration with the Canadian Consulate who plays an active role in helping members leverage their participation in the group.

MBC Consulting held its first ever CPG Conference in Washington DC March 11-13. The Conference was organized around a joint meeting of the Research & Development and Quality/Regulatory Management Share Groups (both managed and facilitated by Jim Wisner). With many members participating via remote web conference due to new travel restrictions beginning that week, the conference was nonetheless a great success in spite of the challenges. The top flight speaker list included Doug Baker – VP of Industry Relation at FMI (and coordinating the industry Covid 19 response), Maria Velissariou – Chief Science and Technology Officer of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), Eric Winborn – well known Washington Consultant, Kantha Shelke – nationally recognized food scientist, Randy Briesath CEO of Seismic Solutions, Danny Beard of Packaging Specialists, Jim Wisner and others.

Jim Wisner Keynotes 2019 PLMA Show

How Does Your Garden Grow? Plant-Based Proteins and the Store Brand Opportunity kicked off the 2019 PLMA Show in Rosemont Illinois. Presented by Jim Wisner, the session identified the long-term implications for plant-based proteins along with some new technologies and opportunities in a fast-changing cpg universe. This was the 6th time that Jim has appeared on the PLMA stage.

Top 50 Private Brand Retail Report

Wisner Marketing recently completed comprehensive dossiers of the top 50 United States retailers for the Italian Trade Agency. Going far beyond the usual facts and figures, the special report also covered buying strategies, vendor requirements, and complete descriptions of every retail banner and store brand at each company. This is the third biannual update of this project WMG has helped provide for ITA and their members.

MBC Consulting Alliance Announced

MBC consulting is the leading CPG manufacturing share group organization with 27 active groups involving more than 100 companies and over 400 individual members. Jim Wisner has worked with MBC as a facilitator or co-facilitator for many of these groups for the past 12 years. Announced on July 11, Jim will now assume primary responsibility for leading several of the groups under the MBC banner in addition to supporting MBC research and industry news reporting activities. Global Masters Event a Huge Success

The “Global Masters of Private Brands”—Jim Wisner (United States), Tom Stephens (Canada), Edgar Elzerman (The Netherlands), and Bill Trainor (Australia)—conducted a two-day workshop entitled Capturing the Global Private Brand Opportunity for 60 Australian and New Zealand manufacturers in February of 2019 at the Woolworth’s Innovation Center outside Sydney. Covering the state of private brands around the world, store brand economics for both retailers and manufacturers, and how to leverage emerging export opportunities, the event received high marks from all who attended. Jim Wisner to Speak on e-Commerce and Digital Marketing at the 2018 PLMA Show.

Jim Wisner and Heidi Reale, founder of Sparkshoppe Ltd., will be teaming up to present at the 2018 PLMA Show this November in Rosemont, Illinois.
